Strategic location and some soul-stirring music — these sum up the USPs of The Basement, performance club of Hotel Samilton. Last Saturday, guest DJ Indrajeet Jadeja of Grahan Chronicles, known for a dark and twilight touch to his sets, kept the crowd on its toes.
As the DJ churned out progressive and house mixes, the crowd hit the dancefloor with a vengeance.
It didn’t take much time for the revellers to get into the groove. “The place I come from, doesn’t have an active nightlife. I heard a lot about Kolkata. People here really know how to enjoy and they stay up really late. This is the first time I’m playing in Kolkata and it’s really great,” said the DJ from Baroda.
While the foot-tapping music was enough to send the crowd into a tizzy, many couldn’t stop going ga-ga over the lovely ambience. Said Sukanti of Cassini’s Division, “I like the underground feel of this place.” Talking about the shows, the spokesperson of the club said, “There will be three live band performances every week and a special DJ night every Saturday.”
